MANIPAL:
Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), became a student winner and won the second prize in the recently concluded Aero Dominator 7.0 in a national level aero-design competition. The competition was organized as part of Vellore Institute of Technology's technical festival-Gravitas. The competition was held from 2–5 October, with 25 teams from across the country competing for the top honors.

The task at hand was to design a fixed wing RC UAV that was capable of transporting medical cargo and first aid during emergencies. Given the recent global epidemic, we saw this mission statement as appropriate, changing the way we work and live. Teams were judged on three criteria - design report, technical presentation and projected flight score.

AeroMIT performed various analytical and computational analyzes on the aircraft's virtual 3D CAD model and implemented key design features in the aircraft to accomplish the mission with high accuracy. The team finished runner-up with a total score of 76.74 scoring -34.75, 33.75 in the design report, technical presentation and a predicted flight score of 8.24.

The team of second prize students included team manager Aditya Gurumurthy, Aerodynamics head Nagraj Ganesh Prabhu and senior team members Pranab Gupta, Prahlad Chandrahas and Rahul Alvares. The multi-disciplinary approach taken by AeroMIT in dividing key tasks between team members and virtual collaboration using the available members bore fruit.
