The fastest fortnight of Kovid-19 cases and deaths in the country saw an 18% drop in new infections from a 15-day period in the first half of October, while deaths fell by about 19%.

India reported 10,55,068 C ovid-19 cases in the first 15 days of this month, the lowest fortnightly count since the second half of August, according to daily data from state governments. The number was 18.4% lower than the case number in the second half of September.

This was the second straight fortnight when a drop in coronavirus cases was seen. In the last fortnight (16–30 September), when epidemic numbers were first submerged, fresh cases fell by 2.9%.

A similar pattern of tolls followed the death of Kovid-19. In the first half of October, 13,474 deaths were recorded, down 18.9% from the previous fortnight. The Death Count first fell in the second half of September, though

Both the Covid-19 case count and the number of deaths in the first half of September were at a peak. In that fortnight, the country recorded 13,31,660 fresh infections (a 28.7% increase over the previous fortnight) and 16,641 deaths, compared to 15.4% in the previous 15 days.
The epidemic is clearly pointless, but with more than 1 million new cases and more than 13,000 deaths during the fortnight, the Kovid crisis in India seems to be more and more.

Meanwhile, reflecting the decline in numbers, active cases in the country fell below 8 lakh on Friday for the first time since 31 August. Daily cases rose to over 60,000 at 62,587 on Friday, while the death toll stood at 871, the highest in six days.
Bengal again recorded a decline in normal numbers, with the highest one-day increase in second-day cases. There were 3,771 fresh infections and 61 deaths in the state.

Maharashtra added 11,447 new Kovid-19 cases on Friday, taking its total to 15,76,062 this week. However, the daily count of cases in Mumbai fell by 14% with 1,823 new cases, to 2.38 lakh cases.

There were 306 deaths in the state, with more than 300 deaths for the second consecutive day. The death toll touched 41,502.

Tamil Nadu continued to record a decline in fresh cases with 4,389 new Kovid-19 cases and 57 deaths on Friday. The cumulative death toll reached 10,529 and the case tally stood at 6,79,191. There are still 40,959 patients treated for viral infections in the state.

Meanwhile, Odisha has reduced its launch of the virus Cassiolad from 3.38 lakh to 3.14 lakh for less than 24,000 amid new infections. The state on Friday recorded the lowest single-day transition number of 2,138 in the past two months. This virus took Casselod to 2,64,149. Fifteen more died in front of Kovid-19, taking the death toll to 1,104.
