"Medical support including oxygen, food and warm clothes has been provided to protect the PLA soldier from extreme altitude and harsh climatic conditions," the statement said.

The PLA is yet to issue a statement on the matter.

Neighbors armed with nuclear weapons have been locked in a month-long border confrontation in the Ladakh region, in which the army kills each other by hand-firing and firing into the air.
